Our underwriting partners, Legal & General

Legal & General

We want to only offer the very best life insurance to our clients, so we looked at over 750 life insurers before we made any decisions about who we should be recommending to you. Getting this right is incredibly important to us, so we were pleased to find one that aligns with our goal of making life insurance simple, effective, and affordable: Legal & General.

We are proud to partner with Legal & General and in fact our CEO has his own life insurance with them. With Legal & General, we are able to provide top-quality policies underwritten by Banner Life Insurance Company and William Penn Life Insurance.

Legal & General got its start in 1836. The company has been offering the best insurance solutions to help you prepare for the most critical or difficult moments in life for more than 180 years.

The company has grown to become a trusted name in the insurance industry. Legal & General is:

  • The 8th largest insurance company in the world
  • Trusted by over 10 million customers worldwide
  • Financially strong with $1.3 trillion in assets under management
  • Named Best Term Assurance Provider
  • A top 10 global asset manager

Because the life insurance underwriting process can vary by state, the company has two wholly-owned subsidiaries. Between Banner Life Insurance Company and William Penn Life Insurance, we provide policies in all 50 states.

At Everyday Life, we’ve got you covered no matter where you live or what your circumstances are.

Who is Banner Life Insurance Company?

When you buy a life insurance policy with Everyday Life, it’s pretty common to get an email or a form in your mailbox from Banner Life Insurance Company. But don’t worry – it’s completely normal.

If you live in any state but New York, Banner Life will be the underwriter for the policy you bought with us.

The company is a subsidiary of Legal & General and manages our underwriting. Underwriting is what happens in the background when you buy a life insurance policy. In this case, Banner Life will assess your application and calculate the cost of your premiums.

Many times, you don’t need to do anything after you submit the application. But Banner Life may reach out to you to ask for more information.

Who is William Penn Life Insurance?

Depending on where you live, you might get an email or letter in your mailbox at home from William Penn Life Insurance. That’s because William Penn is one of the underwriters of the life insurance policies that we offer.

While Banner Life takes care of most of the 50 states in the U.S., William Penn will handle the underwriting if you live in the state of New York.

If you get mail from William Penn, it’s okay. The company is a subsidiary of Legal & General, which is who we partner with to provide you the most comprehensive and affordable life insurance policies.

How we analyzed potential partners

Analyzing potential partners was a meticulous process. Simplifying the process of buying life insurance to make it more accessible for everyone is at the heart of everything we do. We vetted every life insurer until we found one that matched our vision of the future of life insurance.

Legal & General has a history of financial strength and security, and received an:

  • A+ rating by A.M. Best
  • AA- rating by Standard & Poor’s
  • AA- rating by Fitch Ratings
  • 94 Comdex score

Here at Everyday Life, we would never offer anything we wouldn’t use ourselves. We’re so confident in our partnership that our CEO and Co-Founder Jake Tamarkin has his own life insurance with Legal & General.

While some insurance companies sell policies from a variety of different partners, we developed a deeper relationship with just one company.

A single partnership with Legal & General allows us to provide in-depth knowledge about the life insurance products and offer a commitment to customer service unmatched by other companies.

Our rates are competitive and often come in lower than other life insurance providers. When compared to competitors in the national market:

  • Banner Life ranks in the top three 85% of the time
  • William Penn is in the top three 94% of the time
  • Their exclusive term rider saves money over buying multiple policies

Legal & General is committed to making the world a better place. Nigel Wilson, the company’s CEO, is leading a rich legacy that includes building a more sustainable economy for future generations. Through inclusive capitalism, everyone from everyday families to small businesses and large multi-national companies can benefit.

Rather than delivering a financial return to the company, Legal & General funds initiatives that carry a broader social advantage. For instance, Wilson recognized the many mental health issues that are being raised in the workplace and now has one mental health professional for every 70 employees at the company.

With Legal & General’s focus on improving the lives of everyday people, it’s easy to see how their values line up with ours at Everyday Life. We found a life insurance partner that gives you the right coverage at the right price.

Together with Legal & General, Banner Life, and William Penn, we deliver personalized and affordable life insurance for everyday people.
